Back To School With New Graphics

This summer, Merrimack College, in North Andover, MA updated the North Wing of one of their Science & Engineering buildings.  They redesigned all the spaces, from the hallways, floors, meeting areas and classrooms. The classrooms were completely reconfigured, adding more windows and doors to brighten up the space. Once all the construction was complete, we installed all the finishing touches for an amazing transformation.

Our friends at Zax Signage, hired us to handle all the large format graphics, from sizing, cutting, prepping and install. This consisted of a variety of multi-layered vinyls and 3-dimensional displays.

The Project:

All the classrooms had a layered, striped effect on the windows and doors. We started with an Oracal transparent vinyl to flood coat the glass, then layered different colored stripes in a 3M translucent vinyl.  We then mirrored the stripe effect on the back side of the glass, for a really cool shadow effect on the transparent layer. It makes you look twice!

In the main hallway, the circuit board graphics, made from 3M metallic silver cut graphics, frame out the six stand-off displays. The displays were fabricated to stand 1″ off from the wall. The faces are made from Visual Magnetics®, a 100% PVC-free, print material system, that is easily changed out with new graphics. The retired graphics can be returned to Visual Magnetics® and will be delivered to Covanta Inc. where approximately 85% of MagnaMedia weight is recycled back into steel production and about 15% converted into electricity. Wow!
